The vision behind House of Peace
The vision of House of Peace, HOPE, is to create a major architectural and artistic masterpiece in Copenhagen’s harbour. The structure will serve as a symbol of peace, an interactive landmark, and a space for individual and personal reflection. House of Peace is an open invitation to people from all over the world, encouraging them to share their individual thoughts about and hopes for peace. This way, House of Peace will act as an enduring and impartial statement about peace itself.
The term HOPE conveys the dream of peace felt by all individuals. It is within this context that peace should be seen not only as the opposite of conflict, but as a personal state of being that reflects fundamental human qualities and dreams, such as love, tranquility, acceptance, forgiveness, understanding and tolerance.
A room for reflection and peace
The goal of HOPE is to create a symbolic landmark, a construction in the port of Copenhagen with two main functions: A symbol of peace and a place for personal thought and reflection, where the only content is the visitors and their thoughts. The purpose of House of Peace is to inspire.
House of Peace will be the first space in the Copenhagen public sphere with neither religious nor political ties, where the visitor will have an opportunity to reflect in silence. In today’s world, where we are constantly bombarded with information and noise of all kinds, this opportunity for silence has become increasingly important.
Mingling water and light, The Cloud will give visitors an opportunity to liberate their mind. It will reactivate their senses and create a balance in the mind of each visitor, a balance that is crucial for achieving inner peace.
